EWFCCA 'Reach for the STARs'
Virtual Conference 2024
Presents Kristen RB Peterson
Saturday March
9th, 2024 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM (6 STARs Hours)

We would love for you to join us via Zoom from the comfort of your home as Kristen RB Peterson presents LIVE via ZOOM
The 6 hour event (with breaks) includes:
- “Kristen's
Cabinet of Curiosity and Wonder” (1.5 hours Programming Planning &
Development)
Kristen will show the participants how to create indoor and outdoor spaces
filled with open ended materials that spark
curiosity and wonder. When
children have access to open ended materials their world and imagination opens
up! Sticks,
tires and milk crates may seem like trash to some, but let
children get ahold of them and they turn it into learning!
- “Making
Learning Visible” (1.5 hours Ongoing Measurement of Child Progress)
But what are they learning if all they do is play?" We hear this question a
lot as early childhood educators when we allow children to fully live into their
childhood and trust play. We have to learn how to make learning visible to other
adults.  Through observation and documentation we can extract the learning
that is happening through play and make it visible to others. In this workshop
we will learn about different documentation strategies and practice the process
of documentation together.
-
“Everything's a Canvas” (1.5 hours Curriculum and Learning Environment)
What do wedding dresses, horses and shoes have in common? They are all
canvases. In this session Kristen will inspire
providers to step outside the
box (or maybe paint on it) of traditional arts and crafts to give children
experiences that
support creativity and learning! Through photos and
discussion, participants will leave inspired to hit up the nearest thrift
store to find items for children to use as their next canvas.
-
“Always Trust Your Cape” (1.5 hours Professional Development &
Leadership)
Fear. Fear holds us back from doing what is right for the children we
serve. Kristen will inspire attendees to release the fear
and to trust their
cape as they head back into the world to care for children. With information
about play, developmentally
appropriate practice, releasing adult control and
creativity Kristen will give teachers the motivation they need to do what is
developmentally appropriate for the children they care for.
